The Top 3 Ways to Use Numbers in Blog Titles
Author: Dylan Benton | Filed under: Tips & ToolsTriMark Solutions is still trying to gain a larger reader base for InsideTriMark.com, so we’re offering some blogging advice to help get the ball rolling! As a general rule, blog titles which contain numbers such as “10 Best Uses of Facebook Fan Pages”, often receive higher click rates because people are attracted to the numerical aspect within them. Because of this trend, I usually try to include numbers in posts where applicable, but I often see bloggers going slightly overboard in using numbers. “100 Ways to Blah, Blah, Blah” 100? Really? Just how long is that blog?
Numbers also attract attention because the digits break the consistency of the letters, and draw attention. Ok, so now you’ve gotten the reader interested, what do you use your numbers for?
1) Rank tools, websites, people, innovations, & blogs, (pretty much anything) numerically. “Top 5 Widgets of 2009!” or “The 12 Best Viral Videos of all time” are great blog titles which would attract reader attention due to the unique use of numbers.
2) Use numbers to educate. Use the numbers to describe steps of a process, such as “5 Steps to increase PPC Conversions”.
3) Individually number your tips. A blog titled “6 Ways to pass the Google Adwords Exam” would need to have a clear and defined list of 6 tips or ways to score higher on the exam.
If your blog is “5 ways to increase blog traffic”, NUMBER THE WAYS! Readers cannot stand it when a blog title promises a neat and concise list of tips, then they arrive on page only to see a wall of text, with no breaks or differentiation of ideas.
