Yahoo! and Microsoft Officially Receive Regulatory Clearance to Combine Search Efforts.

So what does this mean to current advertisers and users?

Yahoo! is assuring paid search advertisers that they will see no changes in the immediate future. They are working diligently to ensure that the changeovers are seamless and smooth. The transitions are currently scheduled to take place between late 2010 and Q1 2011. Approximately three months in advance, Yahoo! and Microsoft will begin providing customers with detailed information about what to expect and how they plan to assist in the initial transition phases.

How is this Yahoo! & Microsoft Merge going to benefit users and advertisers?

Larger User Reach – Reaching initially 150 million searches and earning 62% high search volumes than Yahoo! currently amounts.
Unified search Marketplace – Combining Yahoo! & Microsoft Networks, helping grow future search volumes.
Quicker & Easier Processes– Users & Advertisers can log into one central location, Microsoft’s adCenter, to manage all online marketing campaigns.
New Features & Benefits – New Yahoo! Innovations, Content, & Web Products, and Innovative Microsoft algorithmic & Paid Search Options.

This collaboration is obviously in its infancy stages, so we don’t know many specifics at the moment, but this is a major move in search marketing and online advertising.
